Ghanaian musician, TV personality and model, Sister Derby alias the African Mermaid has cleared the air on why she likes working with her ex-lover, medikal.
According to the ‘Kakalika’ hitmaker, the two of them like the same vibe which makes it easy and natural for them to collaborate even after their break-up.
Speaking in exclusive interview on ‘If More let’s Divide’ with Mutombo monitored by 1Family Radio, Sister Derby noted that she admires Medikal’s talent and style of working.
She reiterated that collaborating with Medikal on his recent single titled ‘Cold and Trophies’ was normal because this is not the first time something like this has happened.
“How come it happened? We did ‘Too Risky’ together and it became a hit. We have done other songs together including ‘Sampanana’ and we have another song on one of his old albums titled ‘Make I see’.
Sister Derby continued; “Collaborating and recording with Medikal has always been so natural and easy. Both of us like the same vibe and I admire his talent so much. Some people say his style is corny but it works.’’
The African Mermaid noted Medikal is able to use words which his fans can relate to and because of this, he has so many hits in the country.
“His style is very dope especially how he plays with his words. He is able to use words that his fans and the streets are familiar with and can also relate to. Those are the things that excite his fans,’’ she said.
The model however revealed that she bears no grudge against Medikal because she believes everything happens for a reason.
“Even though our relationship didn’t work out, I don’t have any bad sentiments or anything of that sort towards him. You just have to accept and move on. I don’t harbor bitterness and anger in me.’’
“I believe there is a reason for everything that happens on this earth, I mean I was able to write and record my ‘Kakalika’ song during our issues,’’ Sister Derby stated.
