Samuel Nartey George, the Member of Parliament for the Ningo Prampram constituency has stated that the ruling party is depraved and apathetic.
His remark follows the invitation by Ken Ofori-Atta to pensioners bondholders to participate in a proposed new debt restructuring program.
According to the statement issued by the Finance Minister, “the proposed new offer will be instrumental in achieving the objectives of fiscal sustainability and economic growth for the benefit of our country.
The proposed offer is expected to be settled by the end of April, 2023. The new offer implies that bondholders will have to exchange their current holdings of Treasury Bonds, ESLA bonds and Daakye Bonds for a menu of the currently outstanding new bonds.
In reaction to this, the lawmaker has described this new proposed DDEP by the government as sheer wickedness.
“The NPP government is insensitive, wicked and incompetent,’’ he stated in an interview on TV3 monitored by 1Family Radio.
Explaining why he believes the government is wicked, the lawmaker noted that the government now wants to dip their hands into the pocket of pensioners after they have raped the public purse.
“The government have raped the public purse. In fact, they have stolen the purse. Some Ghanaians have lost their money as a result of the financial clean up and the debt exchange.’’
“Now they want to go for the pensions funds and they are instructing us to keep quiet,’’ Sam Nartey said.
