Head of Communications of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum has explained why Chris Hughton, the new head coach of the senior national team was captured watching some local games in Kumasi.
According to him, it is part of Chris’ duties as the head coach to monitor the matches of the Ghana Premier League anytime he is in Ghana. This will enable him make contributions to the development of the local teams in the country.
Speaking in an interview on TV3 monitored by 1Family Radio, the PRO stated that as the head coach, Chris was not only to manage the senior national team but he was also charged with other responsibilities.
“Although Chris is the coach of the Black Stars, he has been given other duties. He is expected to advice and guide the other local teams therefore watching these games gives him the chance to recommend players he thinks are competent enough to play in the Black Stars,’’ Henry stated.
He furthered that Chris was advised to make time to watch some competitions of the GPL anytime he is in Ghana. He noted, ‘’one of the things the GFA discussed with Chris is to make good use of the chance anytime he is in Ghana. He really loves the game.’’
Henry continued that there are in the process of building a winning team and they want to incorporate everyone in the process. “This is a process of building a winning squad and we want to incorporate everyone in it. It will definitely take time, money, energy, ideas and thinking but we will surely get there,’’ he said.
