The Legal counsel to the President Nana Addo Dankwa has charged Ghanaians to ignore the allegations levelled against the president in a documentary by Doha-based international news channel, Al Jazeera.
His comment follows a four-part episode investigative documentary series in which Alistair Mathias, an alleged money launderer and a Canadian Financial Architect claimed to be friends with President Akuffo-Addo while adding that the president was once his lawyer.
In the final episode of the documentary which was dubbed ‘Have the King With You’, the gold smuggler who is an expert in orchestrating money laundering scheme stated that he has successfully orchestrated such acts in Ghana with the support of the government and some other Africa countries like Zimbabwe.
Reacting to this allegations, Kow Essuman has stated that none of these allegations are true because the president doesn’t know this Mathias in question.
A Twitter post shared by Kow on the 16th of April, 2023 indicated that the president has not been in private practice for about two decades now.
The post which was sighted by 1Family Radio stated, “the president has not been in private practice since 2000.’’
He also refuted the claims that the president was the lawyer of the self-acclaimed Canadian Financial Architect.
He continued, “neither has the president nor his law firm, Akufo-Addo, Prempeh and Co. acted as a lawyer for this Alistair Mathias or Guldrest.’’
“The president does not know this Mathias or Guldrest. Ignore the spurious allegations,’’ Kow said.
