Kwesi Pratt Jnr, a Ghanaian journalist and the managing editor of the Insight Newspaper has stated that he is very frightened for the future of this country.
His comment follows the statement made by the Abetifi lawmaker, Bryan Acheampong over the weekend. According to Bryan, there is no way the NPP government will hand over power to the NDC.
Another reason for his fear is the appointment of NPP faithful as a member of the Electoral Commission by the current president.
Speaking in an interview on Metro TV monitored by 1Family Radio, Kwesi Pratt stated that the statement made by the Minister of Agriculture can undermine the peace of the country and also destroy the confidence Ghanaians have in the electoral process.
He stated that the statement made by Bryan and the president’s appointment of party faithful into the Electoral Commission indicates the seriousness of the statement.
“I am really scared about the future of Ghana. A card-bearing professor has been sworn in as a member of the electoral commission. This should tell you how serious the threat of not handing over power under any circumstance is,’’ he stated.
“A party faithful has been appointed unto the EC and another leading member of the party is telling you they will never hand over power to the NDC, what conclusion can you draw from this?’’ Pratt quizzed.
“The statement made by Bryan has more meaning than we think, it gets amplification if you add all these considerations.’’
He furthered, “the country is accelerating at an unprecedented pace into Armageddon. I am really scared about the future of this country.”
“On a more serious note, I am frightened about the future of Ghana and I think all well-meaning citizens should also be worried,’’ he added.
