Joseph Yamin, the National Organizer of the largest opposition party in the country has criticized the current Inspector-General of Police, George Akuffi-Dampare for his hesitance to arrest Bryan Acheampong.
His assertion follows the statement made by the Abetifi lawmaker on April 8, 2023, that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will never hand power over to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and they will employ any means possible, fair or foul to remain in power in the 2024 general elections come what may.
According to the politician, the current IGP has not arrested Bryan over the statement he made on Tuesday because he is not courageous enough. He added that Dampare will be remembered as the worst IGP in the history of Ghana for his cowardice.
‘’Dampare is not helping Ghanaians. He might go down as the worst IGP ever in Ghana although he begun as the best thing that could ever happen to Ghana,’’ he stated in an interview on Accra-based Neat FM monitored by 1Family Radio.
He furthered that the expectation of most Ghanaians was that Dampare will improve gradually with time but he has disappointed Ghanaians because of his reluctance to arraign the Agriculture Minister.
“Ghanaians were expecting the IGP to get better with time but he has unfortunately gotten worse and for this reason, the NDC will employ its own security in the upcoming general elections,’’ he hinted.
Yamin continued that most Ghanaians especially the members of the NDC have lost confidence in the government and his security agencies.
“We doubt the state will give us security during the elections so we have decided to employ our own security. We have also lost our trust in the ruling government and his security,’’ Joseph asserted.
