A nine-member delegation of Ghanaian MPs and other notable personalities are currently in Washington DC in America in an attempt to secure the $3 billion bailout deal from the IMF.
The nine-member delegation is made up of some members of the economic management team of the country. They include the Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, Dr. Ernest Addison, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, the lawmaker for Oforikrom, Dr. Emmanuel Marfo and other parliamentarians.
News reaching us (1Family Radio) is that the delegation will have a meeting with some commercial, bilateral and multilateral creditors to persuade the IMF board to approve the $3 billion deal.
According to the fund, the spring meeting in Washington DC will focus on debt cancellation and restructuring.
Dr. Emmanuel Marfo who happens to be the head of delegations for the Parliamentarians also explained why the presence of the other MPs is needed during the spring meeting.
According to him, the presence of these MPs will help in the implementation of the funds the government will secure from the IMF.
