Member of Parliament for the Ningo Prampram Constituency on the ticket of the NDC, Sam Nartey George has lambasted the Vice President of the US over a statement she made on human rights and freedom.
Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the United States of America on Monday, March 27, 2023, met President Akuffo-Addo at the Jubilee House to discuss about current happenings in Ghana and around the globe.
One of the things they discussed about was the issues pertaining to the LGBTQ+ community. According to Kamala, LGBTQ+ is more of a human rights and equality issue therefore the rights of these people must be protected.
However, Sam George thinks otherwise and has advised Kamala Harris to visit the Parliament House of Ghana one of these days to learn a thing or two from there.
Speaking in an interview on Citi FM monitored by 1Family Radio, the lawmaker stated that the Vice President has no right to lecture us on human rights.
“Kamala should be the last person to go for lectures on human rights. If we really want to be enlightened on morality, we don’t have to go to the brothel,’’ he said.
“The Vice President and her government’s history on human rights is abhorrent and it not something worthy of learning.’’
The lawmaker also bashed the president of Ghana not being clear on the country’s stance regarding the LGBTQ+.
“For President Akuffo-Addo to flee from his own government’s position on the Bill is unthinkable and worrying,’’ he noted.
“However, we not be cowed into submission by some undemocratic comments of Kamala Harris. Americans should come to Ghana in order to learn few things from our parliament when it comes to lawmaking and we are willing to help them,’’ Sam hinted.
