The ruling party, New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed their gratitude to the MPs of the minority who voted in favor for the president’s new ministerial appointees.
On March 24, 2023, Parliament voted on the approval of six new ministers-designate appointed by President Akuffo-Addo. Prior to the voting, the lawmakers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) indicated that they will vote against the approval of the ministers because of the size of the NPP government.
However, after the declaration of the results by Speaker Alban Bagbin, all the six nominees were approved by an outright majority. This implies that some MPs of the NDC voted in favor of these ministers.
The NPP party has expressed their appreciation to these MPs who stood for the country and not their political party.
In a statement posted on the Twitter handle of the NPP, the party also thanked the MPs of the incumbent government for their boldness and support.
The statement sighted by 1Family Radio stated, “kudos to our gallant MPs for standing firmly behind the Government and ensuring that the President’s nominees for Ministers of State and Deputy Minister as well as the for the Supreme Court were approved!”
“The nation is also grateful to the brave NDC MPs who stood for #GhanaFirst,’’ the post read.
