The Member of Parliament for the Subin Constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Eugene Boakye Antwi has insisted that the Minister of Finance must be expelled after the negotiations with the IMF is over.
He stated that the deal with the IMF might end in May because of the government’s inability to meet some conditions by the IMF.
Speaking in an interview on Okay FM monitored by 1Familyradio, the lawmaker disclosed that some members of the party want the minister expelled but because of the deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Ofori-Atta is still in office.
“We are trusting the president to deliver on his promise that he will expel the Finance Minister after the negotiations,’’ he noted.
According to him, the NPP party belongs to the members and they will not allow anyone to intimidate them. He stated, “the party belongs to us and we want the Finance Minister out of office. Nobody can intimidate or silence us when things are not being done right in the country.’’
The lawmaker indicated that Ghanaians are suffering this really affect them (MPs) because they care about the needs of their constituents.
“Ghanaians are stumbling under hardship and it really affect we the lawmakers because we are mostly burdened by their needs,’’ he furthered.
Mr. Antwi continued, “Ken Ofori-Atta must go to make way for new brains who will help rescue this ailing economy from completely crashing.”
