Micheal Ebo Amoah, a sustainable development expert and also a political analyst has advised the ruling party not to respond to the True State of the Nation Address by the opposition party.
He is of the opinion that this will only contradict the address by the president in parliament on the 8th of March, 2023.
Speaking in an interview on Accra-Based Rainbow Radio monitored by 1Family Radio, he disclosed that what the opposition party believes to be the True State of the Nation Address are issues which are familiar with Ghanaians and there is no reason for the NPP to respond to it.
“I was shocked when I saw a statement disclosing that the NPP would respond to the address by the opposition party. What are they responding to? Are they responding to what the president had already said or to what the NDC said,” he quizzed.
“Why should you allow the NDC set an agenda for you,’’ he asked again. He furthered, “your president has delivered on the State of the Nation Address (SONA) per the constitution and the opposition party responds, now the ruling party wants to respond again.”
According to him, what the NPP party should do is to inquire from the citizens if the issues raised by the NDC are true or otherwise.
“The National Chairman of the NDC spoke about corruption, and also the report by the Auditor General on the Covid-19 expenditure. Was the president feedback on these subjects the best? It is it true that the country faced a nationwide shortage of vaccines? Asiedu also noted that the haircut caused the DDEP. How true is this?” he questioned again.
He noted that that all these claims by the NDC are true and most of the citizens are aware of it so there is no need to respond to it.
The opposition party, NDC has nothing to lose if the ruling party respond but the government in power has much to lose if the respond by the NPP contradict what the president has already stated.
