Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana has eulogized the late Hon. Anthony Akoto Osei, the former lawmaker for the Old Tafo Constituency in Ashanti Regio.

Hon. Anthony Akoto Osei was the Minister of State for Finance and Economic Planning during the Agyekum administration and also the Minister of Monitoring and Evaluation in President Akufo-Addo’s first term in office. He was confirmed dead at the age of 64 on Monday, March 20, 2023, by a post on the official Facebook page of Parliament.

Dr. Bawumia has paid his tribute to the late lawmaker in a post he shared on his Facebook page. According to him, Hon. Akoto Osei was a very good friend of his.

The post sighted by 1Family Radio indicated, ‘’I have heard with shock the passing of Hon. Anthony Akoto Osei, a former MP and Minister of the Republic.’’

“Dr. was a very good friend and one of the people I worked closely with as a Deputy Governor and Vice President of the Republic,’’ he furthered.

According to the Vice President, Dr. Akoto Osei was dedicated to the development of the country. “His dedication to serving mother Ghana was unpaired and his fidelity to the country’s development was unquestionable,’’ he praised.

“I paid him a visit just a few weeks ago and was happy that he was doing much better. The news of his passing has therefore come as a complete shock. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away,’’ Dr. Bawumia lamented.

“I am happy to have had a brother in you and to have worked with you. Rest in peace, my brother,’’ he added.
