Three new members of the Electoral Commission have been sworn in by President Akuffo Addo at the Jubilee House.

These new commissioners are Madam Salima Ahmed Tijani, Dr. Peter Appiahene and Reverend Akua Ofori Boateng. They were sworn in on the 20th March, 2023.

They were urged by the president to be meticulous in discharging their duties and also not to kowtow to the pressures they will be subjected to in the course of discharging their duties considering the upcoming general elections.

“Don’t let anything frighten you, in fact, let no one cow you into submission,’’ the president told them during the ceremony monitored by 1Family Radio.

He advised them to rather let the expectations of Ghanaians propel them to work diligently. “Let the expectation of Ghanaians propel you to attain new heights and also to work towards upholding the will of Ghanaians,’’ he advised the new commissioners.

The new Electoral Commissioners promised to work diligently and also to uphold the will of Ghanaians.

“We will not take this appointment lightly considering how essential and sensitive the work of the EC is in the country,’’ Mr. Appiahene asserted on behalf of the other commissioners.

He furthered that they are conscious of the responsibilities that comes with their new appointment and they ready to contribute to the growth of democracy in Ghana.

“We are mindful of the huge responsibilities and tasks that this appointment comes with. But we are ready to deliver and contribute to the progress of democracy in the country,’’ Mr. Appiahene assured.
