Deborah Owusu-Bonsu, a Ghanaian musician and model professionally known as Sister Derby has reiterate her position regarding issues pertaining to the LGBTQ community in the country.
The musician’s advocacy for the freedom and rights of the LGBTQ society is no news as she has been seen several times defending the community.
According to her, most successful people in this country and even globally are part of the LGBTQ society so she doesn’t fathom why we would discriminate such people.
Speaking during a podcast session dubbed ‘Sincerely Accra’ monitored by 1Family Radio, Sister Derby indicated that anybody against the LGBTQ community should stop wearing designer brands because most designers brands are the works of some of these LGBTQ members.
“The top fashion designers, the make-up artistes, the hair stylist in fact the top fashion designers in the world are mostly members of the community will discriminate against,’’ she noted.
She furthered that she cares a lot about these people because she has empathy for everybody. “I care a lot and I am passionate because firstly, I have empathy and secondly, in this industry, most of the people that are making it happen are members of the LGBTQ community.’’
The African mermaid noted however that she doesn’t like the fact that it is even called a community because we all humans. “I don’t even like the fact that it is a community. We are all humans so why should we call it a community?’’ she quizzed.
“The top fashion designers in the world, let’s say 99% are queer. Therefore if you are against queer, you better stop wearing designer brands,’’ Derby asserted.
