Joseph Osei Owusu, the first Deputy Speaker of Parliament also known as Joewise has indicated that Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia is likely to lead the NPP as their flagbearer.

The Vice President, his wife and some Members of Parliament of the NPP were present at the Akwasidae Festival on 20th March on the behalf of the president. Joewise was also part of the entourage that accompanied the Vice President to the event.

“All the ministers and MPs that followed Dr. Bawumia are people who support the bid of the Vice President to lead the NPP in the flagbearership race,’’ Joewise told the media monitored by 1Family Radio.

According to him, they accompanied Dr. Bawumia to demonstrate their unflinching support for his bid to lead the party as its flagbearer. He noted, ‘’we are all here to support him to pay homage to the Otumfuo on the Akwasidae.’’

He furthered that the entourage that followed the vice president indicates the support he has within the NPP party.

“The number of Ministers and MPs that followed Bawumia shows the support he has within the party and also within the rank and file of the party, it demonstrates that his chance of winning the flagbearership race is very high,’’ he explained.

Joewise stated that even some supporters of the other contenders have followed him to pay homage to Otumfuo because they have the free will to do so.“In a competition, it is a choice and we are all free to choose whom we want,’’ he added.
