The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah has called for the closure of the new kejetia market for three days after the fire outbreak.

This comes off after a meeting between the management and the leadership of the traders in the market. The shutdown will commence from Friday, March,17 to March 19, 2023.

The Regional Minister noted that the market will be closed for three days until proper investigations has be conducted to know what really caused the fire on Wednesday.

However, traders who were severely affected by the fire would be given the opportunity to access their shops for three hours within the three-day closure. traders who deal in perishable products would also be allowed to examine the state of their goods.

Shops were allowed to open after 12 noon on Thursday for all traders within the facility to assess the state of their shops and goods.

Mr. Mensah in a media briefing monitored by 1Family Radio disclosed that about fifty shops were badly affected by the fire.
