Kennedy Agyapong, an NPP flagbearer hopeful has expressed his joy over his legal victory against Anas Aremeyaw.
According to him, his victory belongs to Kwasi Nyantakyi, the former president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
In 2018, investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw sued Kennedy Agyapong for defamation after the lawmaker aired a documentary titled, “Who Watches the Watchman”. Anas demanded for GH¢25 million as compensation for defamation by the Kennedy.
However, the court presided by Justice Eric Baah on March 15,2023, ruled that the claims by Anas is meritless while adding that Kennedy Agyapong is justified to call the journalist evil and also an extortionist.
Speaking to the press after the court hearing monitored by 1Family Radio, Kennedy noted that Ghanaians need to be bold to always speak the truth.
“We have to be bold to speak the truth, Anas allegedly defames people and goes scot-free. It is only in Ghana that you will see a journalist giving witness in a court with his face covered and Supreme Court judges sit and watch him,’’ he stated.
According to him, Anas has to apologize to the whole country. He asserted, ‘’Anas must come out and apologize.’’
“All I am saying is that this victory is for Kwasi Nyantakyi,’’ he added.
