Ghana Armed Forces has issued a statement on Ashaiman military brutality 

The swoop was not conducted to avenge the death of the young soldier

The Ghana Armed forces (GAF) has confirmed that they conducted the swoop in Ashaiman to fish out the people involved in the killing of the young soldier.

In a statement issued by the GAf indicated that the swoop which occurred on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, was sanctioned by the Military High Command was not to avenge the killing of the soldier by the name Trooper Sherrif but rather to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous crime.

According to the statement, the young soldier who was stationed at Sunyani south permission to visit his family in Ashiaman but he was found in a pool of blood in the early hours of Saturday, 4th March, 2023 at the Amania Hotel in Ashaiman.

The statement sighted by the 1Family Radio disclosed that the military personnel picked up about 184 suspects and during the course of the swoop, the personnel seized 29 slabs and 57 mini slaps of suspected Indian hemp and amnesia.

The statement which was signed by E Aggrey-Ouashie stated that the swoop was not targeted at the innocent civilians but it was an intelligence-led operation conducted on suspected hideouts of criminals and crime-prone areas in the general area.

They apologize to all innocent civilians who were affected by the swoop conducted.
