The speaker of parliament, Alban Bagbin on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, has congratulated the women in parliament for the boldness in commemoration of the International Women’s Day.
The International Women’s Day celebration which is observed every 8th March is a global day to commemorate and honor women’s accomplishments, raise awareness about gender disparities and discriminations and also to promote global support for women.
Honorable Alban Bagbin made this assurance after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo delivered on the State of the Nation Address in parliament which was monitored by 1Family Radio.
The house was in chaos as both majority and the minority caucus couldn’t agree whether sitting should be adjourned to Thursday or not.
“Today is International Women’s Day and I want to use this opportunity to congratulate all our beautiful women in the house and all over the world for cooperating with men to get us this far,” he noted.
He furthered, “I want to assure all the women that I am here for you.” This triggered some laughter and applauds from the members of parliament.
