Micheal Okyere Baafi, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry and also the MP for New Juaben south has disclosed that Asiedu Nketiah has some sort of influence on the speaker of parliament when it comes to decision making.
According to him, the members of the majority caucus sometimes wish Nketiah will not be in the house when decisions are being taken.
Speaking in an interview on Angel FM monitored by 1Family Radio, the lawmaker asserted that the speaker of parliament, Alban Bagbin is a little bit bias towards his party members in parliament.
The lawmaker indicated that Alban cannot be blamed for it because that is how politics is supposed to be. He noted in Twi “the speaker is very fair but naturally, because he is a politician, he is sometimes bias. But there’s nothing we can do about this, everybody sympathizes with their political party and Alban has done that perfectly.”
He furthered that the majority sometimes pray Asiedu Nketiah will not be in parliament when decisions are being taken because he influences the decision of the speaker. Mr. Baafi indicated that although the speaker is firm in his decisions, he sometimes becomes bias when the NDC chairman is around.
“During decision making, we pray that Asiedu will not be around because when the speaker takes a decision and Asiedu is in the house, there is no way he will change his mind,’’ he stated.
