The Member of Parliament for Ekumfi in the Central Region has distributed over 200 trunks and food items to the first-year SHS students in the constituency.

According to the MP, Abeiku Crestil the donation was a form of social intervention initiative to support the parents in the constituency.

The MP donated wooden boxes which is locally called chopboxes, trunks and some food items to almost 200 Junior High School graduates who are set begin Senior High School.

A report by Citi News indicated that the MP embarked on this exercise in order to assist students who have gained admission but their parents were not able to save enough money to purchase all the needed items to take their ward to school.

Mr. Abieku Crestil noted that the main occupation in the constituency is farming and they earn their money annually. Therefore, they embarked on this initiative as a social intervention policy to support the parents.

Some parents have commended the MP for his kind gesture adding that this initiative was done at the right time. Efua Adadewa, a mother whose child has benefited from this policy disclosed that she wouldn’t be able to provide her child with all the items needed before school begins.
