Sam Nartey George, the member of parliament for the Ningo Prampram constituency has hinted that they are unable to check some policies of the government because the independent candidate in parliament has joined the NPP.

“There no hung in parliament because the Formena MP, Andrew Asiamah Amoako who is an independent candidate has obviously joined the ruling government’s MP in the house making them the majority,” he stated in an interview on 3FM which was monitored by 1Family Radio.

He furthered the decision by Amoako who happens to be the second deputy speaker of parliament to support all the policies by the NPP government in parliament is the cause of the current hardships in the country.

Sam Nartey stressed that there’s no hung in parliament because anytime there is an agenda to be voted on, the NPP get 138 votes while the NDC secures only 137 votes. According him, the Formena MP is the cause of the problems the country is facing because he blindly supports all the government policies.

According to Sam, the independent candidate was expected to vote on issues after consulting with his constituency. He furthered that nobody should be able to predict which side he will vote for but now everybody in the house can determine which side he will support because he has always supported the NPP.

The lawmaker asserted that they cannot be blamed for their inability to scrutinize the government policies because they don’t have enough votes in the house.
