Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng, the executive Director of the Crime Check Foundation has alleged that Atsu was not in his apartment when the earthquake struck.
Christian Atsu, a Ghanaian international football player and his Hatayspor club director, Taner Savut went missing on February 6, 2023, when a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey and some part of Syria.
An earlier report from his agent, Nana Sechere indicated when he visited the site of the incident with the family of Atsu, they were able to found the exact location of Atsu’s room and also a pair of shoes belonging to the player were found.
However, another report by Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng has disclosed that Atsu left his apartment some minutes before the incident occurred.
In a video on his YouTube page sighted by 1Family Radio, Mr. Oppong who has been working with the alleged missing player indicated that he has been briefed that by Atsu’s club that the player left his room to the parking garage to get his car and that was the time the earthquake occurred and the building collapsed.
Kwarteng noted that Atsu was not in his room because he went out to the garage before the disaster happened. But they are yet to confirm if he left the parking garage or not.
