Nana Obiri Boahen, the former deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has lashed out at Otchere Darko for rebuking Sophia Akuffo for her participation in the picketing by the pensioners.
An earlier report by 1Family Radio indicated that Gabby Otchere-Darko, a Ghanian journalist criticize the former Chief Justice for joining the pensioners to picket at the ministry of finance on Friday, February 10,2022. He stated that there was no reason for Sophia to protest against the DDEP when she has the right not to sign up to it.
Speaking in an interview on Okay FM monitored by 1Family Radio, Obiri Boahen asserted that everybody is entitled to their own opinions on various issues and it is wrong for the journalist to attack Sophia for expressing her views.
According to Obiri Boahen, Sophia Akuffo is a human being and he doesn’t see anything wrong with her participation in the protest by the pensioners. He added that there was no reason for Otchere and other members of the party to attack her for expressing her opinions on the current issues of the country.
Obiri Boahen furthered that nobody should criticize Sophia and the other pensioners because they have invested their money and they have to benefit from it. He continued that if none of them couldn’t blamed the government for leading us into this ditch then they don’t have the right to blame the former Chief Justice for her actions.
He indicated that picketing is part of democracy and these pensioners picketed to express their grievances therefore he doesn’t understand why they are being criticized by Otchere Darko.
“I don’t agree with Gabby for attacking the former Chief Justice because she expressed her views,” Obiri stressed.
The former deputy general Secretary noted that the party members must be wary of the comments they make.
