The former Member of Parliament for the Okaikwei North Constituency and the current Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Hon. Elizabeth Kwatsoe Tawiah Sackey has announced that the assembly will be launching a digitized platform for the collection of revenue in March 2023.
She made this announcement on January 26, 2023 when she and other executives went to educate the traders on the introduction of the new receipt for payment of the market tolls. This receipt will be discharged on January 27, 2023.
According to her the new program that will be introduced aims at making payments of bills more conducive and also to check the rate of corruption in the payment of tolls. She stated that this initiative will help create a modernized means of generating funds within the assembly and also to reduce the leaks in the revenue collection.
Hon. Elizabeth reported they have involved some banks in the new platform to make the payment more convenient. She added that the traders can also make payments via their phones across all network or by using the QR codes and the USSD codes.
She stated that the traders would be registered and they will have access to their own QR codes through which they can make payments of their bills before the launching of the new platform.
The mayor urged the traders to accept new inventions that will help develop the Greater Accra region and its people.
