The Deputy General Secretary of the New Democratic Congress, Mustapha Gbande is reported to have been bashed by some irked supporters of the party on January 25, 2023. This incident occurred during a live interview at a radio station.
It appeared that Mustapha defended the decision of the National Executive Council of the NDC to replace the minority caucus in parliament. He stated that in order for the NDC to regain power in the 2024 general elections, these changes have to be made.
Mustapha also mentioned that the party has enough proficient executives for managerial roles and can make replacements as and when the party feels.
According to the reports from the radio station, these supporters made the first attempt to break into the studio when the interview was still going on but they were resisted.
These supporters didn’t loose heart by the resistance. They lingered around the radio station until Mustapha was through with the interview. They then attacked and beat him up when he was about to enter his car. These people are alleged to be supporters of the expelled minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu.
