The Black Galaxies players of Ghana are allegedly dissatisfied after they received a payment of $7,500 instead of the $16,000 promised to be given to them before the commencement of the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) 2022 tournament.
The Black Galaxies qualified for the tournament after defeating Les Guepards of Benin the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Before the tournament, the Black Galaxies were guaranteed $10,000 for the four games, which means $5,000 per player and an extra $6000 for the team as a reward for qualification, this sums up to a total of $16,000. This breakdown was given by Nhyira FM which was monitored by 1Family Radio.
Contrary to these promises, the team was paid $3000 after defeating Sudan in the tournament while the rest of the money was considered as a debt. Due to inadequate funds, the government has settled on $4,500 instead of the $6,000 as the reward for their qualification. The players were given this information by Elvis Opoku Bobie, the Deputy Minister of Sports.
The players were allegedly informed by Honorable Elvis that, the rest of the payment has been forsaken. This has triggered some displeasing circumstances within the camp of the Black Galaxies as they are getting ready for the knockout stage of the championship.
