Yaa Baby, an American- born actress based in Ghana has stated the reasons why her parents opposed her marriage to Kofi Awuah, a Ghanaian businessman and a video director.

She made this statement in an interview on The Delay Show hosted by Deloris Frimpong Manso on TV3, which was monitored by 1Family Radio. Yaa Baby announced that her parents were against her marriage to Kofi Awuah due to some criticism against him.

Chloe who is popularly known as Yaa Baby, narrated how her best friend, whom she sheltered when she was homeless, bad mouthed Kofi Awuah to her parents in an effort to stop her marriage. Yaa Baby noted that her parents were in opposition to her marriage because of the bad narratives they were fed with by Ghanaians.

Yaa Baby further stated that her church was even against her marriage. This was because they wanted her to marry a member of her church but she didn’t yield to their decision, she was subjected to some sort of pressure by some church members.

She announced that, she will not hold any grudge against her parents because now that God has blessed her with two children, she has come to understand that her parents wanted the best for her. “They wanted to protect their daughter’’, she noted.

Yaa also mentioned that, now that she has children of hers, this experience will aid her in raising her children.  Because of this experience, she will know how to address certain issues with her daughter. She noted that this experience has made her who she is today.

When she was asked why she didn’t give in to the pressure she stated that she has been gifted by God to understand certain things in life. She concluded by saying that, she knew what God wanted for her she aware of what was right for her.
