Apostle Prof. Opuku Onyina, the immediate past chairman of the Church of Pentecost is being strongly persuaded by some church members to resign from his position as the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral Project.
Advocates of this motion believe that if the former chairman continues to serve the board, it will tarnish the reputation of the entire church due to the excessive scandal surrounding the project.
Speaking in an interview on OTEC News based in Ejura monitored by 1Family radio on January 18, 2023, Francis Atta Kofi, an elder of the Pentecost church at Mampong area in the Ashanti Region and also a journalist at Naagyei Fm said it was impermissible for the esteemed leader to be involved in the scandals pertaining to the project.
He stated that some of the members of the church were honored and delighted about the fact that their immediate past chairman was elected as one of the leaders of the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral Project. But as it stands now, they are worried he might end up losing respect by the members of the church if he does not step down from his position.
Using the accusation levelled against the secretary of the board Rev. Victor Kusi by the Member of Parliament for North Tongu constituency Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as emphasis, Francis Atta Kofi stated “I think Apostle Onyina should resign to save his integrity’’
This accusation is being investigated by the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) and Elder Francis Atta Kofi this is the best time for Apostle Onyina to resign from the Board of Trustees.
